Q: What are the minimum requirements for my computer?
A: Good internet connection (4G, cable, fiber optic or satellite connection). Your computer should have at least a 2.4 GHz Dual core processor, 4GB RAM and a 10 inch or larger screen. Use one of the following browsers: Google Chrome or Firefox. Please avoid using any data-intensive applications running while viewing content.
Q: What are the minimum requirements for my mobile phone?
A: To participate in the MindProber studies you must be familiar with the installation and use of mobile apps and must have a smartphone:
– Android: at least 4.4 (KitKat) or latest with Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0
– iPhone: iOS 10.3 or later
You can check these requirements at https://www.gsmarena.com .
Q: Does the black screen with a white cross take more than one minute?
A: Verify that you meet the minimum requirements set out above. If the black screen with the white cross takes longer than one minute, wait, do not ever exit the full screen or touch any key on your computer.
Q: Do the videos take some time to load?
A: Again, make sure you have a good connection to the Internet (if available, connect the network cable to the computer). While viewing content, the transition between videos may take a few seconds, do not exit the full screen at any time, or touch any key on your computer.
Q: When I see the message ‘No connection to desktop’ (on the phone), what should I do?
A: In any video study, you should use the visualization area at https://tester.app.mindproberlabs.com . Login with your credentials. On the menu ‘My Studies’, click on the study you’ve selected in the mobile app. If the message ‘No connection to desktop’ persists, refresh (by pressing the F5 key on your computer) and once again ensure that the mobile app is ready to start the study.
Q: How do I start a study?
A: Whenever you have a study available, you will receive a notification through the MindProber app on your phone. You must accept the study. Then in the ‘Studies’ Menu, you will have the study ready to start by clicking on the ‘Play’ button, in the lower right corner of your phone’s screen. At this point, you must be logged in the visualization area at https://tester.app.mindproberlabs.com (on your computer), where you will see the study available to start viewing content.
Q: Where can I see if I have any study available?
A: To see if you have pending invitations, you must, in the MindProber app on your mobile phone, check the ‘Invitations’ Menu. If you do not have any pending invitations, you can always check, on the ‘Studies’ menu, if you have any study to be done.
Q: I have a study available in the App (on the mobile phone), but in the visualization area (on the computer) appears the message ‘No studies available’. What can I do?
A: In this case, you should refresh (pressing the F5 key on your computer) in the visualization area.
Q: When I open a study to start on my mobile phone, does not the ‘Play’ button appear in the lower right corner?
A: This means that the study is no longer available because the deadline for the study has been exceeded.
Q: Do my sensors take a long time to ‘connect’?
A: Make sure the James One sensor is charged and ‘awake’ by shaking it slightly until two blinking blue lights emerge. Turn on and off the Internet and Bluetooth on your phone. However, on the ‘Settings‘ menu – ‘Sensor’, re-register the sensors – when the name of each sensor appears with a tick in front of it, click on Register.
After that, repeat the process again, starting the study again (on the ‘Studies’ menu in the mobile application).
Q: For how long should the sensors charge?
A: Even if you do not have studies to do, check that your sensors are always charged. To do this, every 15 days, recharge them.
Q: I do not remember my credentials?
A: On the mobile app or on the visualization area, you can at any time recover your password through the ‘Forgot password’ link.
